The story of my professional journey that helped me find myself.

As a software engineer turned fashion designer, there was a time when I regretted not finding my calling sooner. However, after some introspection (3 years' worth, to be exact), I am now of the opinion that every leg of my professional journey has its own place in contributing to the person I am today.

Although not my passion, studying Computer Science in my undergraduate course was quite mentally stimulating and I enjoyed a very successful stint as a Software Engineer in the Research & Development department of a German-based automotive company after graduation. The artist in me developed a logical and analytical facet that changed the way I looked at the world.

I expected radical acceptance of my new self in my subconscious after I started pursuing Fashion Design, supposedly my passion. It never came. As most "Eureka" moments go, it came to me overnight. As much as I love art and design, I also love math and logic. I found the version of myself that felt most complete when I accepted that I was an Engineer and a Designer.

Now that I look back, engineering was really a combination of logical design interspersed with creative problem solving. Funnily enough, the same definition can be applied to the field of fashion design. Engineering helped me develop analytical thinking, logic design and gave me an understanding of how technology works on a microscopic level. My collaboration with teammates on a couple of ideas that were to be patented during my stint as an R&D engineer helped me develop better research and creative problem solving skills. These very valuable transferable skills complete me as a designer.

I am currently exploring and establishing this version of myself in the research and execution of my MA project, where I am incorporating technology into fashion. My aim is to create a collection that defines me as the kind of designer I want to be. This project is the beginning of my career in Fashion-Tech, a niche that's gained prominence in recent times. As a passionate, ever-curious designer with a penchant for science and innovation, I hope to contribute meaningful creations in the fields of design and technology alike.
